Promotting philosophy education in Nepal  




Institute of Philosophy

The Institute of Philosophy is the first non-governmental organization in Nepal which was established and officially registered on September 26, 2000 under Government of Nepal's Society Registration Act 2038 B.S. in Katmandu, Nepal to promote philosophical researches, study, exchanges and so on. Its registration number is 339/60/61.

 

The Institute of Philosophy has following objectives by constitution

  1. To promote and perform philosophical studies, researches and teachings.

  2. To promote and perform publishing, translation, sales , import and export of all kinds of philosophical books and literature in Nepali and English.

  3. To promote and perform Exchange - Program to philosophical & relevant scholars and students nationally & internationally.

  4. To promote and perform cultural and cross-cultural exchanges related to philosophy nationally & internationally.

  5. To promote and perform social understandings, saving original cultural identity of different social and religious groups in Nepal by demoralizing any kind of religious or social blindness within them on philosophical vision. 

  6. To promote and perform strong relationship with worldly societies, institutions, organizations and individuals having equal objectives.

  7. To promote and conduct Exchange - Program physically, financially and expertise nationally and internationally.

  8. To establish a philosophy campus (college). T he IOP may receive subsidy from government or interested groups, organizations, as well as donations from corporations or individuals. The use of these funds be restricted to specific tasks, projects of research, or publications specially local research, or be used to organize particular conferences, so far as these activities are clearly connected to the aims of the IOP and are meant to support, at an international level, to promote the progress of philosophical studies and their communication to the world of learning and the intellectuals.
